Two weeks ago I introduced you to two pairs of our Pied Oystercatchers that were early egg layers this year and this week the eggs have hatched out after twenty eight days of incubation. In response to the crowds, dogs, and habitat encroaching least terns took to the gravel rooftops as alternative nesting sites. By early May most terns have laid eggs. There were a lot more terns incubating eggs than what we had estimated. But making it to a flying age in Florida is an accomplishment in itself.
