Kelly wondered whether the term "vegan" is " worth fighting for " given the latest trend of seemingly oxymoronish (waiting for that one to hit Webster's) terminology from the mouths of people who want to find a way to use animals, yet make it appear that they're not. Is vegan a diet ? Before 6pm, he doesn't eat animals.

I recall one day when his sister-in-law was speaking with him about what she was feeding her children, and it wasn't a vegan-centered conversation. I think it was about hot dogs. TD, of course, wasn't too keen on hot dogs for nutritional reasons at the very least. Sometimes permanently. TD replies: " Yeah, like heroine.

Hal Herzog’s “ Some We Love, Some We Hate, Some We Eat ” (Harper 2011), though fascinating, is ultimately depressing for vegans and animal rights activists. Well, as it turns out neither a trip to a slaughterhouse nor killing an animal yourself is powerful enough to make people go vegan. What about their horror?

Now, I don't want to do anything extreme, like go vegan. Veganism is too fringe for me, and I'm pretty sure you have to be a Communist, or at least a Socialist, to be a vegan. And I don't think vegans believe in God, and I don't trust anyone who doesn't believe in God. Also, veganism is expensive, and I'm on a budget.

I've been out of every loop I used to be in because my work outside of veganism and animal rights came a-calling in a most critical way. There are new Francione-style abolitionists and new people to veganism who debate about the ethics of consuming eggs from their neighbor's chickens. Yes, we have a long, long way to go.

It has been a humbling 17 days as I walk the dogs early, shower, and get gussied up to sit in traffic for 1.5 While spending hours in the car I've been thinking about various issues related to sentient nonhumans, animal rights and veganism. And vegans are accused of imposing our belief systems and brainwashing kids?

Compassionate consumers can take a stand against this cruelty by choosing vegan options. It is no more acceptable to confine 60 hens for their entire lives in a cage that you report is “about the size of a Ford F-150 pickup truck’s flatbed” than it would be to treat 60 cats similarly.
