There is one historical record in eBird, representing a specimen collected by Fermin Z. The Zapata Rail is a mystery wrapped in an enigma. The wren comes in! Then back again.

In the mean time, a family group of Black-throated Magpie-Jays were frolicking in the breeze high over the dry valley, showing off their exorbitantly long tail streamers. I ran back to grab Andrew, and we were soon watching this large jay busily going about its routine of collecting food and flying off (presumably to a nearby nest).

This is my least favorite feeder of the group, partly for this reason. My Red-bellied Woodpecker takes over the Classic feeder daily during the winter several times a day, except for the day a Chipping Sparrow just refused to leave. I am very tempted to add the Plus feeder to my collection.

To recap however, grouping them by their slight variation in body size between 53 and 67cm in length (21 to 26in): The biggest two are Yellow-legged and Caspian gulls, distinguishable by the presence or absence of brightly-colored (yellow) legs.

So, the birds start collecting mud and small sticks. What could be plainer than the Eurasian Tree Sparrow ? In this spirit, Taiwanese researchers studied Red Collared Doves and found that in larger groups, these birds spend less time scanning for danger when in larger groups (and correspondingly had more time for feeding).
