But I was driving too fast and passed it, so I had to uncomfortably break on moist and somewhat slippery road to reverse and to stop opposite to the bird, less than 4 metres from it. We found some very simple and nice cabañas outside of town and spent the night by a fireplace talking about birds to some local people. The road went past some ruins that had been abandoned by the town people some 100 years ago and it followed the river gorge for 10 km on its way down to the Amazon. This was very relaxing!

The Gray-crowned Rosy Finch , when she abandons her breeding grounds, prefers to forage on the ground, similar to (and sometimes in company with) Snow Buntings, Horned Larks , and Longspurs.
