Birding Villahermosa’s Urban Parks

I photographed the first of only two Northern Parulas ever reported in my state, way back in 2013. I’m happy to say that the ones right on the other side of a low wall were not so large. Still, this sort of wildlife experience is available in pretty much any Mexican city. But obviously, I haven’t seen one since then.

Best Bird of the Year 2013

As 2013 draws to a close we here at 10,000 Birds thought that it would be a great idea if we, like we did in 2010 , 2011 , and 2012 , shared our Best Birds of the Year. It was easily one of the best birding experiences I’ve ever had, even impressing my nonbirder fiance. You can read more about his experience here.

One sighting that came right on schedule for me was that of Ospreys on their nests all along the perimeter of Montezuma NWR.
