Best Bird of the Weekend (Second Weekend of 2011)

Sure, I’m likely omitting some other far more important factors involving family, friends, and professional success, but the little things mean a lot. But since these sorry birds are giving avifauna a bad name, I should mention the sleek Cooper’s Hawk I spotted at Turning Point Park. Not a bad bird at all!

Best Bird of the Weekend (Third of September 2011)

My weekend was full of fall family fun with the highlight, a trip to pick the last of the season’s berries and the first of its apples. The best bird had to be an American Goldfinch pulsing overhead that Mason identified by song… amazing! Frankly, I had no idea he even paid much attention to birds.
