Sand Point Family Vineyards: Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 (Lodi Appellation). One wonders how they ever find the time to make wine!

In 2010 they also laid two clutches of two eggs and the second clutch did hatch, but the chicks were then predated. The eggs remained there for the whole season and we presume that they were young and inexperienced. In 2009 they laid two clutches of two eggs, but they were all predated.

Pied Oystercatcher breeding season is here again!

The eggs hatched out around 20th June after 28 days of incubation and the Pied Oystercatcher family were soon on the move. This moves the family closer to a reef that gets exposed on low tides and better feeding opportunities. Usually the first thing we look for when we visit Pied Oystercatcher families is look for footprints.

Manhattan’s first nesting Common Ravens

In 2010, Common Ravens nested in Queens. In Manhattan, ravens were seen sporadically beginning in 2010. The family has continued hanging around Chelsea since, and it’s a lot of fun watching (and hearing!) They’ve also recently nested in the Bronx and nearby in New Jersey.
