Birding Wolongshan, Sichuan, China

10,000 Birds

With travel restrictions still in place, going on a birding trip outside of China is still not a practical option. Fortunately, China itself has a large number of bird species and habitats. I guess it is pretty common in many areas of China, but not in Shanghai, so it is still a special bird for me.

Birding Balangshan, Sichuan, China (part 3)

10,000 Birds

Wikipedia has a paragraph on their interesting mating system : “Home ranges are occupied by breeding groups of 3 or 4 males with 3 or 4 females. I side with the HBW on this issue. These are unrelated birds that have a socially polygynandrous mating system. ” Sounds like a good topic for a raunchy novel.

Birding Yibin, Sichuan

10,000 Birds

Yibin is a typical smallish Chinese city (which in China means slightly above 850,000 people in the metro area, which would make it the fifth-biggest city in Germany but does not get it into the top 100 in China). In one group, they added a blue egg to their nests. What a pity.) Keep that in mind when somebody (Marie Kondo?)
