There is bird version of this in the Everglades. It turns out that there is an example of this with wading birds in the Florida Everglades. This example is important because it appears that the protector species, not just the protected species, gains a benefit, the latter having been documented many times before. Probably not.

The Pygmy Nuthatch ( Sitta pygmaea ) is a non-migratory bird that lives primarily in Ponderosa and Jeffrey Pine forests in western North America. This little town of about 100 is located right next to what is considered the largest coral reef in all of Mexico [link] which is very well protected with in the boundaries of a Federal Marine Reserve. Well, it is rather common and can even be scarce regionally, but overall it is not a difficult bird to find in Germany so long as a cunning birder frequents reedy wetlands.
