Whales are cows. The point is, of course, that whales are not cows. Even though whales are cows. But birds are dinosaurs.

Well, it is rather common and can even be scarce regionally, but overall it is not a difficult bird to find in Germany so long as a cunning birder frequents reedy wetlands. No, the usual birding opportunity at zoos and parks is one of watching feeding and preening behaviour, or parenting and social interactions. Beware of Crocodiles.

Over the past few months there have been a lot of birds breeding around Broome with the excellent rain events that we have been having and the vegetation is at long last revived. Masked Lapwing chicks are very well camouflaged and can easily hide in the long vegetation and we have observed them hiding in cow footprints in the past.
