Pied Butcherbird family

We have been observing the Tawny Frogmouth family again during the week at the same park in Broome. The juvenile birds are growing fast and less interested in people in the park. There are also two Pied Butcherbird families in the park and they are also growing fast. The header photo is of an adult Pied Butcherbird.

I won’t apologise for doing another post about Tawny Frogmouths , because they are just such beautiful birds! You will notice that it is a year ago that I wrote about the family of Tawny Frogmouths at Cygnet park in Broome. Once again there is a family there, but we don’t know if it is the same pair.

Pheasant Coucal family

Despite the fact that they are part of the cuckoo family they do actually raise their own young. There are quite possibly more juvenile birds, but with the long vegetation it is hard to know for sure. I tried to photograph one of the juvenile birds, which was quite large, but was also behind some long grass seeds.

There are beautiful beaches, a plethora of amazing food and drinks, a multitude of family fun locations, a world-renowned zoo, and one of the biggest birding festivals in the US. My family visited San Diego every year as part of a Disneyland-SoCal Road trip to escape the rainy Christmases at home near Portland, Oregon.

Last week during a camping trip to Kununurra we encountered a Radjah Shelduck family in one of the irrigation channels around town. The Radjah Shelduck family last week were swimming in the irrigation channel right against the road and so we could pull over and admire them. Radjah Shelduck family.

Tawny Frogmouth family at Cygnet Park-Broome

I have been watching the birds feeding on the nectar of the native trees and dropping in for water. There has been a family of Tawny Frogmouths at our local supermarket car-park in other years. From the photo below you can maybe now see the birds in the header photo. Undoubtedly it has young nearby. Tawny Frogmouths.
