The HBW entry for the Downy Woodpecker (Reno, USA) illustrates a common phenomenon – apparently, the more a species is known, the more subjects for further research pop up. I suspect that way more research and documentation is conducted on indigenous bird species. The Spot-breasted Oriole , a native of Central America, is one of the lucky exotics to make the list.
