Yet Another New Backyard

Orange-winged Parrots may be abundant elsewhere, but here their presence is wholly overshadowed by a tremendous mixed flock of Crested Oropendola and Yellow-rumped Cacique. Swifts are aplenty, one is likely to see Gray-rumped , Band-rumped , or Short-tailed Swift hunting insects each morning. Interesting.

A few Barbets

According to the HBW, there are 41 species of African Barbets and 34 species of Asian Barbets. There are also 14 species of New World Barbets and 2 species of Toucan-Barbets (all in South America). Might have something to do with the fact that they were hunted here until quite recently).
