On our visit there were several hundred Pink-eared Ducks, Grey Teal, Pacific Black Ducks and Hardheads. Pink-eared Ducks through the poo Ponds fence. A group of Spinifex Pigeons ran along beside our vehicle on the inside of the fence and Red-backed Fairywrens hopped up out of the long grass. Great Bowerbirds bower.

Despite all the people, the birds were incredibly active, rarely shy, and a reminder that natural wonders like the cherry blossoms interact with more than just us humans. Still, most of the birds were locals, including Fulvous Whistling-Ducks , Black-necked Stilts , and a lone American Avocet (still with a bit of breeding color). I did a bit better with the Phalaropes ; while I only had one encounter, it was with a medium-sized group, and they seemed quite willing to let me take their picture.

Most of the tourists, of which there are quite a few, opt to go on the tours provided by the Supporters, so by walking away quickly from the slowly coalescing groups we were able to lose the crowds quickly.
