Both species can theoretically breed in central Mexico, but in my experience are almost exclusively winter visitors. Behind it, you can see the lake’s once-green reedbeds in flames.

Warblers that Warble

That still leaves 11 Warblers that breed in Michoacán. But my experience suggests there is a fair amount of geographical overlap between the two ranges in my area. Like the Common Yellowthroat , the Yellow Warbler breeds no further south than the central Mexican highlands. It does breed in the U.S. But do they warble?

Shearwater Chase in Costa Rica

At first, the birds were absent, it was just that one shearwater, a sad lost Eastern Kingbird flying low over the waves, and groups of Brown Boobies making a beeline to feeding grounds. Also known as the Fairy Tern, this species breeds on Cocos Island and is very rarely seen from pelagic trips in Costa Rica.
