The Amusing Case of the Gulf Breeze Zoo Canada Geese

The first time I visited the 30 acre enclosure, I walked the raised boardwalk over the space with eyes wide. Multiple varieties of ungulates jogged from place to place, while giant rhea birds stalked around looking for food. The Canada Goose sits on its nest of pine cones. The Canada Geese (on the right side) show no fear.

Big Year Birding Update

The birders birding on a budget and doing a lower-48 big year, Renee Rubin and Michael Delesantro , are doing nicely at 614 species for the year, amazing considering how little money they have spent. Not only that, but they are doing their big year to raise money for the Houston Audubon Society and the Katy Prairie Conservancy.
