You need to get it to a wildlife rehabilitation center. Domestic animal shelters don’t normally take wildlife and if they do it’s rare. I recommend Fox Valley. These animals support ecosystems all over the globe where there are c3 and c4 class grasses, but not enough people support them. I would rather educate.

In an act of kindness, the police took the dog, which was a Greyhound female, to the nearby Nuneaton Warwickshire Wildlife Sanctuary, run by a man named Geoff Grewcock and known as a willing haven for Animals abandoned, orphaned or otherwise in need. But she is like that with all of our animals, even the rabbits.

Our time on the island was spent looking at birds, exploring, picnicking, throwing rocks in the water, and admiring a very cooperative Santa Cruz Island Fox. We had a nice boat ride out on an Island Packers vessel, though Desi did not like how fast the boat went into the waves and clung to Daisy the entire time.

Ahead of the first trip, I wasn’t thinking much about mammals, and yet, you cannot miss them, from Nilgais near villages to Indian Flying Foxes in town centres, not to mention those ubiquitous and irresistibly cute Palm Squirrels eating seeds left for parakeets. On that first trip, I even saw some of the last 500 (Asiatic) Lions !

In the past I have attributed some of this conflict to differences between the conservation mindset and that of animal rights/animal welfare. Dogs should not be used to hunt foxes. I, personally, deeply believe that wild places and wildlife have an existence value that should be respected. A hungry child should be fed.

They are all wonderful people and they are all animal lovers. But I’ve learned we love animals in very different ways. But I don’t agree with the supplemental feeding that happens with feral cats–if you’re gonna call them wildlife, treat them as such. Are we going to put out food for coyotes?
