A new bower in Cygnet Park-Broome

Well, now it has really fallen apart and they have abandoned it. Of course there is always something interesting about bowers wherever they are, but especially amongst human habitation. Cygnet Park continues to be a good location for observing Olive-backed Orioles and many other bird species. The bower in the post 2 years ago.

Owling in Trinidad & Tobago

While preparing an article this week for a local newspaper on the nighttime denizens of Tobago, it crossed my mind that I never considered owls as a group, far less target species for any particular outing (except for a select few, upon which I shall expound here). This resulted in my only photograph of this species to date.

Since it was the first link in this chain, Pino Real was where I met many of Michoacán’s flagship species. As I look back at my eBird species list, it is astonishing how many of my lifers were first seen there. To my shock, I had a wonderful outing, with 63 species seen in six hours. That chain continues to this day.

How to find the Ural Owl in Serbia
