And while we’re at it, I think it’s time to open a limited season on Bald Eagles. We’ve always hunted Bald Eagles. I get it now, I really do.

Once upon a time in Bojcinska Forest

Then in 2011 the foresters planted wheat, and after deep ploughing wheat was left to rot in the ground, with acorns left to sprout. A Lesser Spotted Eagle high in the thermal, getting ever smaller. And a White-tailed Eagle making an appearance in the same thermal! We entered an area that was clear-cut in 2010. And there it is!

Best Bird of the Weekend (Second of September 2011)

The best birds of my weekend were Seahawks, Eagles, Falcons, Cardinals, And Ravens. There was the White Ibis in New Jersey , the Caspian Tern , the Buff-bellied Sandpiper , another White Ibis , this one in New York’s Orange County, a Bald Eagle , and a host of other birds.

Where Are You Birding This Second Weekend of November 2011?

I plan to use the extra time to teach my son the difference between a seagull and an eagle: one of the two flew over our house this morning and Mason couldn’t ID it. Obviously, my question is prompted by the extended weekend triggered for many by Veterans Day in the U.S. Obviously, I was mortified!
