I am checking the grass for any flash of white and soon my suspicion is confirmed: Cattle Egrets (cover photo)! There is a tin fishing hut on stilts and some sort of netting across the lagoon, either to prevent the larger fish getting in, or getting out of it. A few moored boats with piles of fishing nets, but no people.

We had our first encounter with a Musk Duck in New South Wales here and then continued on to the reserve. This was particularly useful because it held water and therefore waterbirds!

There are no trails as such, but you can follow in the cattle tracks along the edge of the river or the gravel tracks used by vehicles. There are a lot of small fish visible along the edges including Pop eyed Mullet. The only ducks that we have observed on recent visits have been Pacific Black Ducks. Great Egret.
