That is, until the ducklings grow up, are released into a pond, and greet the local feral cat colony as long-lost relatives. To these people, we owe our gratitude.

I have never once seen a cat anywhere in my neighborhood. None of my neighbors have cats and I'm only aware of one dog owner blocks away. Lots of squirrels, chipmunks, deer, rabbits. Birds seem to be mostly some kind of common looking grayish speckled yard birds that I don't know what they are.
