New England Reptile Distributers just released a video explaining a terrible incident involving the FWC (Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission). In 2021, Florida banned reticulated pythons, forcing Coffee to find homes for the pythons outside of Florida. He had a total of 120 pythons he needed to rehome.

Located in Florida: Today I was walking my dogs and noticed a big gathering of vultures surrounding a raccoon. Need some advice / help. At first appearance the raccoon seemed disoriented and extremely lethargic. I assume it will either die, or recover (if it doesn’t have rabies) and that there’s nothing else I or a vet can do for it right?

Over the last weekend, I was at Lake Kissimmee in Florida, observing Snail Kites at an area kites were not present or rare just a few years ago. The threat of extinction of such iconic Florida bird prompted State and Federal agencies to find solutions to stop and reverse the declining trend. Kites now nest there and are fairly common.

Because water pools here, there are even more plants and animals than other areas of the biodiverse park. To me, they are the most spectacular bird in all of South Florida. The nature trails in this part of the park mainly consist of a paved path bordering a canal, with mangroves and other flood-tolerant trees on the other side.

My first surprise came in the form of an eBired.org report of a Tropical Parula near the water tank in Florida Canyon, just to the north of Madera Canyon. While this is pretty limited to the actual amount of area that sees water, it does provide some pools and small wet areas that are critical to many of our birds and animals that need it.

Domestic animal shelters don’t normally take wildlife and if they do it’s rare. I operate as a permitted rehab in Florida. These animals support ecosystems all over the globe where there are c3 and c4 class grasses, but not enough people support them. You need to get it to a wildlife rehabilitation center. I hope this helps.
