I do not have a life list for those birds I saw in my youth, 45 years ago, in California. Mexico has a good number of greenish or rusty Woodpeckers. But the Great Swallow-tailed Swift is one of the largest Swifts in North America. I live in Mexico! But they were still Mandarin Ducks! I just haven’t seen any of them.

For as long as I have been living here in Mexico, I have truly enjoyed watching the Harris’s Hawks antics. harrisi can be found in southern Texas, Eastern Mexico and much of Central America. unicinctus is found exclusively in South America, and tends to be somewhat smaller bird that the North American subspecies.

The country of Mexico as a whole, is host to 27 different species of doves, with the California Baja Sure home to six. While the White-winged Dove is a resident of the southern half of the US and all of Mexico, in the past few years it has been expanding it territory north towards Canada.
