What the rings reveal

I discovered that it had been ringed on 26 September 2016 at Iken, on the River Alde on the Suffolk coast, so almost exactly four years before my sighting. It was, however, loyal to its wintering grounds in Suffolk, for it was seen again at Gorleston (where I photographed it) on 6 October 2016, 27 November 2016 and 14 November 2019.

The most recent report was issued in December 2019 and it used data from the 2016 National Survey of Fishing, Hunting, and Wildlife-Associated Recreation. Every few years, the U.S. million birders.

Buff-sided Robin

Having added the new additions to my 2016 year list I noted we had not yet seen a member of the Fantail or Robin family as yet. Our first encounter of a Northern Fantail for 2016! We have seen a Common Sandpiper there in the past using the bollards as a fishing post, but this time there were two of them.

Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) declared the Golden-cheeked Warbler “ endangered ” under the Endangered Species Act. Nevertheless, in 2016, FWS denied the petition , finding the Golden-cheeked Warbler “has not been recovered, and due to ongoing, widespread destruction of its habitat, the species continues to be in danger of extinction.”

Birding India with the ABA

My group, led by Rockjumper guide David Erterius, started off with a great view of this Brown Fish-Owl , perched on a low wall in a thicket of vines near the entrance to our route. Well, the Dusky Eagle-Owl was big too, but for some reason, the Fish-Owl seemed huge.
