Zenato “Alanera” Rosso Veronese (2016)

10,000 Birds

Now that we’re officially into autumn as of yesterday afternoon, there may be a few swallows lingering along the riverways and reservoirs here, and some may be found here and there into October, but by and large, the several species of swallows we see around here are birds of the summer. Good birding and happy drinking! 1246-1260).

Quinta do Vale da Perdiz Cistus Reserva Douro (2016)

10,000 Birds

In fact, with temperatures here dropping to near freezing again overnight, I wish I had another bottle of the rich, warming 2016 Quinta do Vale da Perdiz Cistus Reserva Douro to uncork this evening. And while it’s a bird fond of cultivated land, the winery Quinta do Vale da Perdiz offers no story behind its appearance on this label.

10,000 Birds

Love “Roller”coaster: Castellare di Castellini Chianti Classico (2016)

10,000 Birds

While we’re not quite in such dire straits here at Birds and Booze, there may have been some last-minute rummaging around the cellars for this week’s featured wine. But, in the end, we did find one with a hint of romance: a 2016 Chianti Classico from Castellare di Castellini. Who says rollers aren’t romantic?

A.A. Badenhorst Family Wines ? The Curator White Blend (2016)

10,000 Birds

It’s going to be a pretty easy post for us, too, as there’s not a whole lot going on here bird-wise to discuss. (By By now, Birds and Booze readers know that we’ll gladly take any old bottle with a bird on it for a quick and dirty review for another busy week in this crazy world.) Good birding and happy drinking!

Top ten birds for 2016

10,000 Birds

Of course it also means that there is only one week left of birding to top up your year list and I am not really expecting to add anything new to my year list over the next week unless the tropical low that is buffeting the north-west of Western Australia throws something our way. It is quintessentially a Christmas bird! Common Snipe.
