My best bird of the weekend was Western Wood-Pewee … actually, no, that was Nate’s best bird for reasons that may never be adequately explained. Multiple groups of trogons with young in the United States seems surreal, but is entirely possible in the right place. Bad picture of a great bird… Elegant Trogon !!

The majority of the individually marked birds in Broome are birds that have been marked locally with either a plain yellow flag, an engraved yellow flag or colour bands and a flag. Tropical Kingbird is likely to be one of the last birds I see in 2012 and first I see in 2013. Not a hard bird to come by in Costa Rica. This confiding Central American bird was far away from its normal home, near Half Moon Bay, CA. That’s what you need to do to be Great. I will wave the white flag now.

While the plants did stabilize the dunes, they also formed such dense stands that no other native dune plants or animals were able to live there including rare plants like seabeach amaranth and rare birds like piping plovers. Phillipps: A field guide to the birds of Borneo, Sumatra, Java and Bali (1993): based on taxonomic order from 1975 with some changes on colour plates for practical reasons.

We see a closer shot of the river itself, hawks flying across the span, and then we see that brown line again, close up, a wall of brown panels filling the right side of the screen, continuing into the distance, no end in sight, while a white pick-up truck drives parallel to it at the far left of the screen.

On the first trip in 2012 we used public transport to get there and the train conveniently gets you to Macarthur Square shopping centre and you can then get a bus that drops you right at the entrance to the park. We encountered one crossing the road in 2012, but with the cooler weather this year there was less turtle activity.
