A Look Back at 2012

10,000 Birds

Back in January of last year I said in my list for the year that I’d be happy if I hit 300 birds in 2012. The equation is simple, surely, if seeing birds makes me happy, then surely lots of birds makes me lots of happy, right? My final number for last year was 402 as it turns out. The Birding Rally Challenge Peru 2012

10,000 Birds

In early December of 2012 we had the opportunity to cover this hard-core rally in the south of Peru. They beat the Forest Falcons of the UK by a measly three species in what was a tight race right up until the dying minutes on the final day. The next step in the progression of competitive birding? 10,000 Birds

How about you?

Plus, the time was finally right for me to savor a local slice of that southern Snowy Owl invasion. The bad news was that it had flown away right before we arrived, but the good news is that it hadn’t traveled far.
