I was good with leaving the first three as advised I’m just unsure if momma racoon even knows to come back or would even leave her others right now with having to find a new home as well. It’s going to get down to 43 degrees and we have a very active cat neighborhood. Just curious to see if there are other opinions on what I could do.

Why allow hunters to shoot right into the middle of them? Eastern flyway breeding populations appear to be maxing out their available habitat, and are subject to abundant natural limitations such as ground predation by coyotes, foxes, raccoons and opossums. When we arrived we looked and there was our one-eyed eagle, eating a raccoon that had been hit. I held him a minute so he could look around, then I slowly opened my hands and after a few seconds he flew off and went right to a tree trunk and started acting like a wild woodpecker. That was 9 years ago. So gorgeous!

This is another project for older kids, but its quite simple if you have the right tools. When you first install the doggy door, you never know who else you’ll let into the house, so use baby gates near the door for the first couple days, to limit the risk from raccoons and other wild animals. Install a pet door. Make pet toys.

I tweeted about a similar incident about a month ago and someone replied that she was glad there was someone fighting for the safe-dining rights of hawks. I don't know if she was being sarcastic, but in my town I see dead armadillos, opossums, raccoons, all manner of turtles, and squirrels dead in the middle of the road frequently.

Larry starts us off right with an owl that makes birders drool: I was able to see and photograph many great birds in 2014 but my Best Bird of the Year would have to be the Great Gray Owl , the largest Strix in North America. I’d never heard raccoons make that particular weird noise before, but that was my best guess as to what it was.

I’m happy to say that the ones right on the other side of a low wall were not so large. But this park’s flagship non-birds could be none other than the Coati, a tropical raccoon relative. The reptiles in Parque Tomás Garrido were of the crocodilian variety. Some were quite large.

For both the Classic and Finch feeders, all you need to do to fill them is twist off the top and pour seed (that’s the Finch feeder with the top off in the photo on the right). When placed correctly, these feeders are squirrel-free, though, as the Squirrel Buster brochure makes clear, they can still be attacked by raccoons and bears.

We do have a possum and a raccoon that live somewhere on the property. the last part is raptor behavior but I can't imagine what kind of bird would be small enough to choose this space when there's 300 yds of chain link fence right there, and I've yet to see a dead squirrel, rabbit or chipmunk.

Yeah right! Right now I have a nice hickey on my arm from a Canada Goose. Another time I was wearing gloves, just as I should have been, and an adult raccoon bit through them and took a divot out of my middle finger. They don’t love us like we love them, right? She had bumble foot, and she was fast and angry.

You can see two adult males, one in the middle and one on the right side of the screen and an adult female running up to the foraging group from the cover at the edge of the yard. For example, eBird says that “adults [are] overall pale grayish with black cap and back” Then again, it is called Black-crowned, so the color must be black, right?
