Why isnt hunting for sport not banned yet?

Its cruel and uneccesary pratice.Most of the world that doesnt have good food markets is I guess allowed to hunt to extent.but why in developed countries is hunting for sport still allowed? Getting a kick out of one beings suffering(that never did anything bad to you and even if it did it never has human motive for it).

Popular hunting magazines make animal rights groups like they're the bad guys. "We need to watch out for the ASPCA, the humane society, PETA, etc." It seems both political parties do nothing for animals. I've gotten to the point where I don't even vote anymore.
