And the two species were not inclined to get on, by which I mean that Lions will kill other large predators including Painted Wolves. Those collars save lives.

Snow leopards aren't actually leopards, they are actually more closely related to tigers than actual leopards hence why people usually say lions, tigers, jaguars, leopards, AND snow leopards when identifying the panthera genus. • Deer, cattle, camel and goats are more closely related to dolphins and whales then they are with horses. . •

They are not necessarily the biggest African animals, but represented those that were considered a real hunter’s worthy prey or “game” – the African Elephant, Cape Buffalo, Black Rhinoceros, Leopard and king of the jungle, the Lion (which of course doesn’t inhabit jungle but savanna!). In Asia they are even commonly kept as pets!

The boys knew what Owls looked like, they saw Screech Owls (and Barred and Great Horned Owls) at a local wildlife park, and we photographed Burrowing Owl families every year at Brian Piccolo Park. They made it to the beach after 4 hours, where a large crowd of birders was assembled next to a dry and crusty sea lion carcass. So they called all of their area friends and family, trying to find some couches to crash on for the night. A siege of the now-infamous sea lion carcass the next morning produced nothing.

African buffalos have excellent eyesight, hearing, and a sense of smell that helps them detect the presence of lions, their greatest enemies. Ostrich kicks can kill a human or a potential predator like a lion. Both male and female buffalos grow large, deadly horns that they use as weapons and for defense.

Lions are boring and should be avoided on safari, but I quite liked this one, even if he had ticks. Purple Roller.
