We spotted a Black-throated Sparrow … … and then our guides heard Cassin’s Sparrow calling. What a spectacle. We stopped.

Keep birding in green space and you might hear a Laughing Falcon , might see a White-tailed Kite doing its “Holy Spirit” hovering moves. Stripe-headed Sparrow and Other Dry Forest Birds. Normally found in much drier landscapes at lower elevations, a few of this sparrow somehow found their way to Calle Viquez.

A Vesper Sparrow was my 7th FOY for the day. This Peregrine Falcon also seemed to be in quite a hurry; no surprise, that. However, I did get some good shots of two or our less common Empidonax flycatchers. Both were FOY, although an additional Willow Flycatcher near the water was my second sighting this year. A few Eurasian Tree Sparrows land by my car as I am scanning for Purple and Squacco Herons , Pygmy Cormorants and Black-necked Grebes in their brilliant breeding plumage. Driving with open windows (to hear the birds) becomes unbearable and I am heading out of this fish farm. An immature White-tailed Eagle. Soon I see a huge bird again.
