Falconers must always keep their birds somewhat wild so if they get separated or the bird flies off never to return, it can still survive on it’s own without human intervention. Of course I can’t speak for every falconer out there. Falconers can trap any bird of prey any time they want. Many get their birds from breeders.

Humans, and the rats, pigs, goats, dogs, cats, snakes, mosquitos and disease they bring with them have wiped out species after species on islands. Tibbles did contribute, but it was a population of feral cats that did the bulk of the killing. The wren’s existence as known to humans was all too brief. Gone forever.
