Did you see that Change.org now has an Animal Welfare page? is clearly someone who advocates for animal rights. Ernst believes we don't have a right to use sentient nonhumans and all of her posts (and those of Alex Melonas, who also posts at animalrights.change.org) are unequivocal about animal use.

I was browsing for some quotes when I came across this group - The National Animal Interest Alliance (NAIA). A couple of years ago I wrote about whether it's a good use of my time to be a purist about the term "animal rights" when most of the world doesn't have the same understanding of the term as I do. Or how a paragraph would refer to animal rights and animal welfare as if they're interchangeable.

This article in the Herald Tribune claims that animal rights is winning out over animal research. I would take the article with a grain of salt. I've read the same on the other side. It depends on who's writing the article of course.I think it's still a long, long fight. But perhaps these are positive signs.

I believe that we have to be inclusive in the animal rights movement and attack the system using all kinds of methods in all sorts of fields. If a meat eater eats meat, but hates the factory farm system or animal experimentation, do we discount anything we can get out of them because they are not "pure."
