Thave a friend who is working for a NGO that wants to combine emotional intelligence courses/ therapy with animals. It is intended for b2b, so these courses are for employees. Basically when these courses are being held, there will be also animals that day at the office (dogs, cats, small animals from local shelter).

Of course, many people still know exactly what they did when this happened. In retrospect, it kind of makes me wonder what image the organizers who booked the hotel for me had of German academic visitors … So much for my quasi-madeleine moment, though of course less emotionally attractive than the one described by Mr. Proust.

Today I want to talk about how it also damages conservation by, in much the same way as other media does, by reducing issues to pithy statements, devoid of nuance and heavily laden with emotion, and shaping the opinion of millions as it does so. Animal rights is concerned with individual animals, and their suffering and welfare.

Condors, like all New World vultures, can disturb the human psyche. They scavenge, making them reliant on nature’s whims.

Of course, I have an emotional attachment to that one individual, Violet Rays. And you wouldn't fund a program that was very expensive per unit (human or nonhuman animal) yet you often don't think about that when you're dealing with an individual. Or paid for food for a year at a rescue kennel.
