In 2007 I was working in a university building that was just begging for bird feeders. This was where I set up my bird feeders, just one at first, then expanding as everyone expressed delight in seeing the Carolina Chickadees, Dark-eyed Juncos, and Downy Woodpeckers. We have continued to observe the birds along the edge and on the Great Northern Highway to the south of Broome across Roebuck Plains. The depth of water over the highway varies daily and the bird-life varies too. There is not a lot of traffic at any time, so you are able to pull to the edge of the bitumen and stop to watch the birds.
