That’s me on the right. Las Mesas is the only place I’ve found for which the Black-chinned Sparrow is a reliable species, but this adorable bird, perhaps my favorite local sparrow, always seemed to position himself with some severe backlighting… until this trip. In case you were wondering. Feast your eyes.

But indeed they vanish somewhere once the people pretending to try and catch fish appear. But the stars of the month were some breeding Eurasian Tree Sparrows. Taking the famous statement that Mao was 70% right, 30% wrong (Deng Xiaoping), his decision regarding sparrows certainly falls under the second category.

It was when I searched for migrant birds on gorgeous days of September, usually near the Niagara Gorge, sometimes while fishing for salmon in the powerful green waters. It was also when October came with cool weather and bunches of White-throated Sparrows, shy Hermit Thrushes. Birds Can Fly Right Over Costa Rica.

It stops those thousands of migrating birds flying across the Gulf of Mexico and directs them right onto the trees, fields, sanctuaries, beaches along the Bolivar Peninsula, where they hopefully find food and fresh water. Seaside Sparrow. I imagined walking right up to them. High Island in April requires Weather, so I was told.

Yeah, that’s right, Green Herons are smart. They go fishing. Now, about my proposal to split the Song Sparrow into thirty-five species…who do I talk to about that? Your average Green Heron has more than an amazing neck and a scatological nickname though. It also has a pretty big brain. You know how I know that?

The birds moving through right now are not. Does this fish look unhappily surprised or what? Does this fish look unhappily surprised or what? Osprey need fuel for their trip south and there are plenty of fish in Queens. There is something about a Savannah Sparrow in dawn light.
