Although I love dogs they're too dependent on humans, it's true that stray/feral dogs can form packs and survive in the wild a regular dog like a golden retriever would get eaten by a lion instantly. Cats would be the next. Horses live in groups. From the ones that have a good chance to survive.

The species must be restricted to an internationally recognized country, island or island group. Its numbers are declining rapidly due to feral cats and this duck is currently listed as vulnerable. The bizarre Tristan Thrush, or Starchy as it is called locally, has adapted to predating on the avian life of the island group.

The dog-loving owners of the property in Julian where he sought refuge rushed him to the local veterinarian, who informed them that if his leg was amputated, he could live as an indoor cat.
