Not only has this live camera feed provided a wonderful educational resource for science teachers across the country, but it has also shed light on some very interesting behaviors of these owls. The colony has grown supporting up to 3 pairs of owls, all breeding at once! One of the owls with a frog after a rainstorm.

They look crap but presumably offer some protection for the chicks, though not from each other (see the murderous activities within the nests in my previous post ). Apparently, when breeding, the two parents divide incubation duties, with one bird taking over the daytime duties and another one the nighttime.

The crows pick the ripe nuts off the top branches, drop them in the street, then chow down after the cars break them open. The street is then stained with blobs of pecan oil.
