The topography looks like it is right out of an early John Wayne movie. There is very little fresh water, at least to be found year round, but the bird populations all seem to do just fine. Ash-throated Flycatchers, Gray Flycatchers, Verdin, Loggerhead Shrikes and Vesper Sparrows all came for a visit the first evening we were there.

We had originally planned to stay this night at Yavi but we decided to give ourselves more time to explore Calilegua where there are more birds.
