Goals for Birding Costa Rica in 2015

10,000 Birds

Identifying 600 species : This is an annual goal of mine and, in Costa Rica, is feasible even if you stick to birding once a week. Last year, I got 654 species. My year Chestnut-colored Woodpecker gave some ridiculously nice looks. Both already have more than 700 species but it would be great to add several more key species.

Birding Singapore

The only bird-related activity I can think of is looking at bird photos I took in Singapore in 2015, and adding some irrelevant comments to them. The host species (meaning those unlucky birds that have to drive koel chicks to school and go to their parents’ meetings) include House Crow … … and Common Myna ( source ). .

Beljarica Backwaters: Some good news announced (but not yet official)

In the summer of 2015, that proposal was scheduled for voting in the City Assembly, but was withdrawn before the vote took place. It is a spacious floodplain between the River Danube and the levee, 2.1 mi at its widest point and some 9 km2 / 3.5 mi2 of the Danube Backwaters in 2014 (cover photo). mi2 of the proposed reserve was announced.

Best Bird of the Weekend (Last of November 2015)

I enjoyed some late autumn hiking, but saw nothing out of the ordinary; among the common birds in my area, the Pileated Woodpecker always stands out as something special. Still though, a kittiwake from land in New York State is always welcome!
