Over the past few months, I have attempted to introduce our readers to some of my favorite birding sites around my city of Morelia, Mexico. Along the way, I hope to give you an idea of what birding in Mexico is like. As a result, they are a favority hiding place for many birds. Humans like me enjoy eating them, too!

This is what we need for birds, whose rights as government-protected species are violated every day by free-roaming cats. What birds need is their own SWAT team. Outdoor/feral cat people are bullies who prey on people unable to fight back, just as their cats do with birds. You call the SWAT team. It’s time for this to end.

The layout of the lake has many small fingers that provide shelter, shallow water and many dense areas of Willow and Cottonwood trees. Human access is very limited to the lake, with very few hiking trails around the lake, mostly to the south area, which provides good viewing points to much of the lake.

According to a Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences study, human-induced climate change has doubled the area affected by forest fires in the western U.S. Birds are able to fly away, but their nests and eggs can be destroyed. I was able to visualize six of the bird houses that survived. over the last 30 years.

It stops those thousands of migrating birds flying across the Gulf of Mexico and directs them right onto the trees, fields, sanctuaries, beaches along the Bolivar Peninsula, where they hopefully find food and fresh water. And us, the birders who travel here from March to May to worship the birds as they seek to survive.

As I bird, walk the dog or run errands, puffs of white float down on the breeze. They shelter and shade, feed and bind. Humans have not helped. The result is a slow retreat of the cottonwoods, not readily noticed by a human with a human lifespan and attention-span unless we know what to look for.
