Bellwoods Brewery: Barn Owl No. 14

10,000 Birds

Bellwoods Brewery of Toronto, Ontario didn’t necessarily intend their Barn Owl No. And we birders can take heart in the fact that in the wild, the seeds of the pomegranate are distributed by the frugivorous birds that eat them. Barn Owl No. Barn Owl No. Barn Owl No. Barn Owl No.

Z. Alexander Brown: Uncaged – Cabernet Sauvignon (2017)

10,000 Birds

Just yesterday I learned that the Barn Owl ( Tyto alba ) is the only breeding bird found in New York that has been documented nesting in every month of the year. This bit of trivia was given in an article in my local bird club’s monthly newsletter about the ongoing breeding bird atlas in New York State. The post Z.

Review: Barn Owl by David Chandler

Apparently, many bird species have employed the same concept as me for a long time.

Another post about owls

10,000 Birds

For those still reading on after this introduction, this is about Barn Owls I have seen in Germany in summer 2018 and winter 2019 – rural Northern Germany, to be more specific. In summer 2018, I spent a couple of nights near barn owl nesting boxes, watching the parental delivery service and its expectant customers.

A winter miscellany

10,000 Birds

In short, it was the perfect day to go birding, so I grabbed my binoculars and camera and set off for the forest. The trouble with mature pine forest is that it isn’t really very good for birds, and in winter there’s little to be found there apart from Goldcrests and Coal T**s.
