Another animal dies at the Calgary Zoo and more questions are being raised about their practices. The fatality is one in a string of animal deaths in recent years. Incidents include a hippo who died in transport from Denver and a Turkmenian markhor, a species of wild goat, hung itself at the zoo after becoming trapped by a rope.

As it turns out, many of those very birds that I had hoped to find, all had the same idea, and had moved out of the park as well. I would have to say the most common bird in the park, must be the Common Raven. We picked this as much for the location as its chance for some decent birds. You know, the Bison, Elk, Bears and Wolves.

And some of the extinctions were of small animals, like the many dwarf goats and elephants in the Mediterranean. We’ve lost perhaps 200 birds that we know of since 1500.
