The Birding Rally Challenge Peru 2012

In early December of 2012 we had the opportunity to cover this hard-core rally in the south of Peru. The journey involved a two hour boat trip, eight hours by car across the Andes, a bus trip, train ride and walk! Each day of the rally kicked off at the respectable time of 4 in the morning and ended after dark.

On the first trip in 2012 we used public transport to get there and the train conveniently gets you to Macarthur Square shopping centre and you can then get a bus that drops you right at the entrance to the park. We encountered one crossing the road in 2012, but with the cooler weather this year there was less turtle activity.
