This has been benefitial for the species, which suffered considerable losses after the snow storm two years ago but quickly rebounded. The Spot-breasted Parrotbill suffers a bit from having a contradicting scientific species name, guttaticolis , meaning “spot-throated” or “spot-necked” rather than spot-breasted.
