As is typical of urban birding in Costa Rica, we had small flocks of this species fly over and good looks at the White-crowned Parrot , the other most common parrot in the valley. Euphonias, sparrows, warblers, and tanagers. Less common but still expected were looks at White-eared Ground-Sparrow and Red-crowned Ant-Tanager.

We reached the salt pans at Morales around six and were greeted by several White-fronted Parrots feeding on fruiting trees. Other dry forest species made appearances, Stripe-headed Sparrows being especially common. Nothing even close to the motmot up north though. Pishing brought out a couple of White-lored Gnatcatchers.

Old Howard Beach in particular has quite a few of the large stick nests that the Monk Parakeets build, and their raucous cries can be regularly heard as the green, gray, and blue parrots wheel overhead.
