Or rather, to my car… which suffered the fierce attack of a Hooligan Bluebird. I had gone to investigate the area around Atécuaro, a tiny town to the south of the church my wife and I pastor on the edge of the city of Morelia, Mexico. But it wasn’t until April of this year that it happened to me.

It's a study funded by the US Department of Agriculture. One would think it would be elementary. But it's not just about the hens.it's about the money. Or corporate net income.

Call me old fashioned if you like, but I rather like many of these old names, as they put a bit of colour and interest into birding, especially if you bother to investigate who exactly the birds are named after. There are many who think that the whole idea is ridiculous, while others believe that it is long overdue.

An animal rights group has called for a federal investigation into the death of an elephant at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. Umoya, a 21-year-old African elephant, died Thursday, possibly due to injuries suffered during an attack by another elephant.

KING-TV reports that both the state Department of Fish and Wildlife and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration are investigating the deaths. The animal protection group Seal Sitters says a necropsy showed that the sea lion had suffered a shark bite and had twisted intestines in addition to a bullet wound.

This rescue is the result of a PETA undercover investigation. The raid followed an undercover investigation by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
