There are Australasian Grebes, Wandering Whistling-Ducks, Pacific Black Ducks and Little Black Cormorants present and also Magpie Geese. Magpie Geese are not always present in the Broome area, but this year good numbers came and they also bred in this area to the south of Broome. Glossy Ibis. Intermediate Egret.

As we walked from the car park to the bird hide we noticed a family of Magpie Geese on the edge of the billabong. Family of Magpie Geese. During the four hours that we sat in the shade of the hide we saw it make several attempts at getting a meal and at one point it swam right by the hide. Australasian Darter.

If I had more time I could have hiked around to find one of the star attractions, Gouldian Finches , but I had gone there mainly to find two of my target families, storks and cranes. Another nice find right outside the centre was a Emu, although it was so tame it can hardly be called a find.
