Do whales deserve constitutional protection against slavery? SeaWorld’s attempts to deny [orcas] the protection solely based on their species is the same kind of prejudice used to justify any enslavement. Well, it's still historic and precedent-setting. Here's hoping we see more of these legal challenges.

Due to mass wolf poisonings in the 1960s and the 1970s, Griffon Vultures in Serbia suffered a dramatic population crash. Yet, in the late 1970s there still were six colonies with about 40 breeding pairs left, but in the early 1990s only two colonies and 22 pairs persisted (of which only 13 bred in 1991) – five of them in this gorge.

Lerps are the carbohydrate rich protective shells exuded by tiny bugs (hermipteras) that suck sugars out of the leaves of eucalypts. Outside the breeding season they may tarvel in large flocks looking for outbreaks of these bugs. They do need older trees, which host more lerps, and they can suffer due to some land use types.
