In talking to the local guides, and Rangers, they all agreed that they had not been seeing too many species around in the last couple of weeks. You know, the Bison, Elk, Bears and Wolves. We did not ever see a Grizzly Bear, but we did see a Black Bear , although it was way too far away for a picture.

Informed literature bears out my experience that most birds are seen singly or in pairs. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada. Very interesting species. The former British colony’s Z.c. melli strain is one of as many as 12 races and shows a lighter face than many of the others. Have a nice day. Interesting bird!

Now, bear in mind, there are nearly 10,000 Canada and Cackling Geese on this refuge, and all I had to was find one single Greater White-fronted Goose , mixed in with the others. I did find 26 species of birds that afternoon, all of which were already on the list, but no Greater White-fronted Goose.

978 species were tallied this month from 163 checklists. Only 123 species appear on both sides of the life list. Canada Goose – Branta canadensis. Lemmon–Bear Canyon (Cypress, Middle Bear, Chihuahua Pine Picnic Areas). The yearly total has reached 1538 while the life list has been pushed to 3676.
